Crafting with my little one
10 minutes a day,
5 days out of 7 :
it's my resolution for 2013

Here is our final craft for the year which means…we did it! My resolution to craft with Syl for 10 minutes a day, 5 days out of 7 is complete!! It may be the only resolution I have ever kept!! I gave Syl free range of the craft closet to choose whatever materials she wanted to decorate this “thank you” sign.
Materials: card stock, paint, jewels, buttons, glitter, glue, stickers
Prep: printing out “thank you” on card stock
Source:
Notes: We wanted to say “thank you” for following the blog last year! And I am thankful I had the time and resources to undertake this resolution. I’m excited about where this is headed in 2014. I plan to continue the blog this year but with more of a business focus. For the time being we are taking a break from crafting while we visit family and friends in Australia.
Uses: to say thanks!

I was happy to find lots of Aussie crafts on Pinterest - we just ran out of time to do more of them before we departed! Materials: card stock, paint
Prep: cutting out kangaroo silhouettes
Source: michaels.com
Notes: I gave the girls a few paints in the sunset color range but obviously too much red as these are more kangaroos hopping past Uluru than kangaroos hopping into the sunset artworks!
Uses: portfolio / gifts

Well it wouldn’t really be me if I actually posted our final few crafts for the year on a timely basis now would it?! These activities were inspiration for our trip to Australia where we are now!
Materials: paper bag, card stock, googly eyes, craft glue
Prep: drawing platypus features and cutting out
Source: daniellesplace.com
Notes: Syl’s (right) looks like a baby platypus with its arms and legs all curled up! Wait for glue to dry before trying to use as a platypus puppet!

I knew we’d done another craft before Christmas! It was some last minute holiday cards for our neighbors! Materials: greeting cards, ornament stickers, sharpie
Prep:
Source:
Notes: The great thing about having kids is they are the perfect excuse for slightly janky, homemade christmas cards! (Ok it’s not the only great thing about them!)
Uses: greeting cards

Appropriately enough our final christmas crafting activity was gift wrap done on Christmas Eve!
Materials: brown wrapping paper, bakers twine, washi tape, stamps, jute twine, various decorative items from craft store floral/holiday dept
Prep: wrapping presents in brown paper to speed things along!
Source:
Notes: This was really a joint activity as obviously some of the gift decorations were too hard for Syl but she could easily handle the stamping, taping on of berry sprigs and threading of glittery snow flakes onto twine! My favourite was the faux ribbon/bow red washi tape decoration.

This was a fun craft where mummy and girls could both participate with hilarious results due to Mummy’s drawing skills!
Materials : packet of felt Santa features stickers, card stock, sharpie
Prep: none
Source:
Notes: Syl did her own sticker placement hence the super short waisted/long legged Santa on the left! Baby sister got sick of stickers after putting down one hat and one mitten (the one in front of Santa’s face!) so I made things easier for myself with the rest of the sticker placements! Would be even more fun to do this with older kids. Uses: portfolio

A quick wrap up of our last 3 crafts from last week. I did not take many progress photos!
Materials: Makit and Bakit kit containing metal star frame and melting crystals
Prep: none
Source: Michael’s
Notes: I tried to be less particular with this Makit and Bakit kit. Not really possible with the intricate star design!
Uses: Christmas decor
